The £25 million
development will provide a world class sporting facility for
the people of Derwentside, with swimming pool, sports hall, football
fields and a WTA-approved tennis centre. There will also be a
new home for Consett FC.
Led by Project Genesis, a joint venture between Dysart Developments
and Derwentside Council, the project has been approved and is
currently being specified, with work expected to commence some
time during 2007.
Priestpopple, Hexham

Plans were unveiled following a major research
study which showed that Consett needs to expand its retail offering
in order to
regain trade that is currently lost to the Metro Centre, Newcastle
