The £25 million development will provide a world class sporting facility for the people of Derwentside, with swimming pool, sports hall, football fields and a WTA-approved tennis centre. There will also be a new home for Consett FC.

Led by Project Genesis, a joint venture between Dysart Developments and Derwentside Council, the project has been approved and is currently being specified, with work expected to commence some time during 2007.

A 100,000 sq ft development that will bring much-needed new retail opportunities to Consett. The £17 million project, which was recently awarded outline planning permission, has already attracted the attention of more than one major national retailer.

Plans were unveiled following a major research study which showed that Consett needs to expand its retail offering in order to regain trade that is currently lost to the Metro Centre, Newcastle and Durham.
